I think that having lots of lights like that would not only be cool but really expensive.I would like to see the lights in real life.

The World's Largest Treadmill!

(Summary)

A new giant treadmill was created by Oxford Fitness in Chile.It can hold up to about 10 runners at a time.The treadmill is 4 times bigger then the average treadmill.The buttons that make the treadmill work are so high that the runners that go on it will have to use a ladder to reach the buttons.

I think that having a giant treadmill will be awesome.I hope they get into the Guinness World Record Book.

Tallest And Shortest Men Meet?

The tallest and shortest men met for the first time.They met in London for the 10th annual Guinness World Records Day. Sultan is 31 and became the world’s tallest living man in 2009. Chandra is 74 and became the world’s smallest man in 2012.

I think that it is cool that the smallest and tallest man are meeting for the first time.I would like to meet them someday.

Epic Rap Battle Of The Moana!!!

 Summary

On Wednesday room 8a,9,10,11,12 went to Sylvia Park. We got to watch some of the 2014 Manaiakalani Film Festival. At the movies there were different schools like Stone fields,Tamaki Primary and Pt England. Stone fields had the most films. Before each film started a few kids introduced them.

Opinion

My favourite one was Epic Rap Battle Of The Moana! from Tamaki Primary. I liked it because the rap had lots of rhymes and made most of us laugh. It made me want to sing a long.It was a really awesome film and I do think it was the best one there.

To Infinity And Beyond!

Disney Pixar have revealed that Toy story 4 is in the works. Toy story 4 will hit the cinema in June 2017.After its release in 2010 toy story 3 became the highest animated movie of all time.

I think that Toy story 4 will be cool to watch. But I wish they would release it earlier.

A new phone has been created and is technology free.It has no screen or battery  and cannot send texts or make calls.The No Phone has so far raised over $7000.

I think the No Phone is pretty useless.I wouldn't want to stare at a blank black screen for ages.

Secret Passageway

Secret Passageway Late at night I found the door open to the library. I needed to get my netbook that I left behind. When I picked up my netbook I suddenly looked on the shelf and there was a glow shining in a dark book.  I opened the book and a letter fell out. I shone my light on the letter and it said “Secret Passageway Do Not Enter”. I read it and found the secret passageway. It was in my school library! When I got to school nobody was there- just silence and darkness. I searched high and low up and down but no passageway. Then, out of the corner of my eye I noticed a strange grey wall instead of our usual brown one. I pushed up against the wall. With a crunch it opened there were three tunnels. One tunnel had snakes in it, the second had tigers and the third was empty. I stood there for 30 minutes waiting for something to happen. I gave up waiting and entered the third tunnel. When I looked further in there was a flash car waiting for me from my dad. My dad had built the secret passageway!

An Italian Hotel has the world’s deepest swimming pool.Emanuele Boaretto designed the swimming centre.The pool is as deep as 9 double decker buses stacked on each other.At the bottom of the pool there are underwater caves which guests can explore.

I think that would be an awesome pool to swim in.I would like to explore the underwater caves.

I think that someone was behind the cabinet to make a prank or just to be funny.I think that was a pretty dumb idea.

Police Officer Miraculous Saved By His Colleagues

A North Shore Police officer is lucky to be alive after suffering a heart attack and crashing his car. St Johns Ambulance staff arrived and transferred Mr Albert to hospital.

I think it is great that the ambulance came to take Mr Albert to the hospital. It is sad that he had a heart attack.

The Japanese Burger King has introduced a new burger called the Kuro Burger.Its 

nickname is the Goth burger.The colour of the bread is black and the ketchup has 

squid ink added to it.

I think that it would be disgusting because it looks burnt and it looks weird too.Why

In Central America a noisy bang and shaking on the ground alerted people about the meteorite near the airport on Saturday.

(Opinion)

I think when the meteorite happened people would have been scared and it was a bad place to land.But it was really lucky that no one got hurt.

Fossils From Giant Dinosaur Found

Scientists found a fossil of the Dreadnoughts schranz. The dinosaur didn't have any 

predators because of its size.The dinosaur was 26 metres tall and weighed 60 tonnes.

I think that the scientists are excited that they found the fossil of the dinosaur.I 

think that they might put it in the museum.

A money truck crashed off the highway with the money in clear plastic bags.The driver and the other person in the truck only got a few cuts, bruises and maybe injuries in their neck and back.

I think that would be dangerous in a truck.I also think that people might have taken some of the money.

My Necklace!

This is my necklace I made at Hard Material Tech at Tamaki College in Mr Grundy’s Workshop class. It took me a really long time to make it but I finished it.This necklace is for my sister who went to Fiji for a trip and this is a welcome back present. I enjoyed making my necklace.

When I give it to my sister I hope she likes it.

Earthquake Hits California!

An earthquake has hit California and it is their biggest one since 1989.The earthquake happened at 3:20am on Sunday. Reporters say that 87 people were taken to hospital and three were seriously injured including one child.

That would be frightening for the adults and especially for the kids. I wouldn't like to be in that earthquake.  

NZ Government Bans Shark Finning!

The New Zealand Government bans for catching sharks and killing them.The Animal Welfare act to remove the fin from the shark and put it back in the sea.

I think taking the fin from the shark and dumping it back into the water is mean.

World's Strangest Creature

This is one of the weirdest creatures alive. Scientists have found out that the creature is from a small group of worm like creatures that could be found today.

If I would see it now I would freak out. The creature isn’t that pretty at all.

Smartphone 20 Years Old

This week is the 20th birthday of the smartphone.It was called IBM Simon.The smartphone has one hour’s battery life-so it wasn’t very successful.

I think if we had these phones they wouldn’t be that useful.

Telecom Change Name To Spark!

Telecom has officially changed its name to Spark.On August 8th New Zealand’s largest  company rebranded itself. It is estimated that the name change will cost the company around $20 million.

Spark is one of the biggest companies in New Zealand.They have 6600 employees at the middle of last year, and is one of the countries largest investors in technology.

I’m not sure they really needed to spend all this money on changing their name.

A World Without Food?

A California inventor has created a formula which could make a world without food possible.The inventor,Rob Rhinehart has created a formula known as Soylent that provides the body with all the nutrients it needs to survive.Rob came up with the idea when he got tired with the high prices at the supermarkets.

40 different chemicals make up Soylent,and the formula is delivered as a powder in a sealed packet along with a bottle of oil.They are mixed together to create a thick liquid to drink.

People that have tried it have described the taste similar to oatmeal,batter or dough.Rob and his roommates raised $3,500,000 to help start producing Soylent.They sell the formula over their website.Soylent costs around $3 a meal which is cheaper than most meals made from solid food.Rob has been on Soylent for more than a year and only has solid food on special occasions such as dinner with friends.  

I don’t know whether to like this idea or not!?

A young girl wants her baby brother to stay little forever until she realizes he won’t be so little anymore.The video of the girl crying has gone everywhere on the internet.She also has a million views on Youtube.The little brother is watching his sister as she is crying for him and telling him how cute he is and to stay the way he is forever.

National Symbol Of Pakistan

I chose Pakistan for my national symbol.This national symbol shows a dark green field and represents the Muslim majority of Pakistan.Pakistan’s flag was made by Syed Ameer Uddin Kidwai.I like Pakistan's symbol because of the moon and star.

Hide And Stuck

An 11 year old girl was playing hide and seek with her cousins and thought she had found a good hiding spot in the washing machine. While she was in the washing machine she felt her legs go numb and she couldn't push herself out. She got really scared when the device that stirs the clothes was pushing against her chest and made it hard to breathe.

Her sister tried getting her out with butter,peanut butter and even ice to try to get her to slide out. The sister called their mum and she rushed home with the girls aunt.

The mother couldn't get her daughter out so she called 911 and the fire-fighters were sent.S he was in the washing machine for a few hours.

I don’t think that was the best place to hide...

Chile With The Biggest Telescope In The World

The South American country of Chile is about to get the worlds biggest telescope. The Cerro Armazones mountain will be the new place for the telescope. In order to build a house around the telescope the top of the mountain will have to be blasted away using explosives.

The telescope has  a 39-metre mirror and the astronomers are going to call it The world’s biggest eye on the sky.They say it will help advance the studys of planets and stars.

Watch Out Phone Thieves

300,000 mobile phones are stolen every year in Britain. A new feature known as the ‘kill switch’ is being added to Google and Microsoft Window phones. When peoples’ phones have been stolen the owner sends a signal to their phone which makes it stop working. Apple and Samsung have a similar feature on their devices.

However thieves may be able to still use these phones. The kill switch only works when the phone is on so the thieves might kill the kill switch when it is off.

                         

Air New Zealand Got A New Plane

Air New Zealand got a new plane that is a Boeing 787-9 dreamliner. It has flown for its first time. The new plane recently completed a three hour test flight above Seattle,USA. Air New Zealand will start using them on routes to Perth, China and Japan.The planes colours are mainly black and white.The price for one of these planes is about $300 million.

Dog On A Log

On Saturday there was a dog on a log. In the water.

The dog was stuck on the log for three days. He was a black and white dog. People said the dog belonged to a fishermen and he might be wondering where his pet is. The Navy rescued the dog and they took him to Great Barrier Island police station.

(In fact, a fisherman knew where his dog was and was going to pick him up on the way back… But the navy ‘rescued’ the dog first.)

An Awesome Car Wash

On Saturday there was a huge car wash at Pukekohe Intermediate to fundraise for a kid’s school trip to Rarotonga. A man took photos of my mum and her friend holding up signs for people to come get their cars cleaned.There were four stations where the cars would get washed. Lots of people came to help and we nearly washed eighty cars or more.
                                                         

Netball Lesson

Today on the basketball court we were practising more about netball from Fiona our netball trainer.First we had to do five running exercises to get us warmed up.We were learning how to pass in different ways like chest pass,overhead,side through and other great passes.When we were done with the passes we had a challenge.We had three teams and we had to vs them.When we had finished that game we played another.We had to get into two teams and get into a circle.We had to through three balls at a time.

My Awesome Brand New Password

It will be exciting to get my own password for my school google account today. When I put my password in only I will know it and other people won’t be able to hack into my work and destroy it. Being able to get my own password is great because no one else will get into my account.

Going To My Aunty's

On Saturday morning my sisters,brothers and I went to our aunt's house because we were waiting for our papa's daughter to come.We were celebrating because they are from Australia and they were staying for the weekend.His granddaughter was there and we played in the backyard and the trampoline.We had a big feed of yogurt with marshmallows and flakes on the top,mussels,other seafood,chips, and tortilla wraps.When we had to go home we waved goodbye to them.We went home at about 9:00pm.We were all very tired because we had a long day.
